Flood watch in effect until Friday afternoon

A flood watch is in effect until 2 p.m. Friday for Eastern Pennsylvania and portions of New Jersey, including Mercer, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, Morris, Sussex and Warren counties, as well as the western portion of Monmouth County.

Showers and thunderstorms could produce heavy rain, with rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches expected, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour and pea-size hail are possible with this storm.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. If you live in an area prone to flooding, be
prepared to take action if flooding develops.

This is the third rainfall event in the last week. The ground remains wet, and rivers and streams continue to run high.
