Man gropes woman on Mercer Street in Princeton (updated)

A female Princeton resident was walking on Mercer Street this morning just after 9 a.m.on Thursday when a stranger groped her. The woman was alerted to the sound of someone abruptly approaching her from behind as she walked eastbound on the 100 block of Mercer Street. She turned around to observe a man very close to her who then grabbed her buttocks and pushed her forward, causing her to fall to the ground. The man fled, heading west, and is believed to have turned on to Springdale Road.

The suspect is described as a 30 to 40-year-old Hispanic male with a medium complexion. He has a heavier build, dark hair that was spiked on top, and is about 5’5″. He was wearing a blue t-shirt with two buttons or dots on the front neat the collar.

The were no injuries and the incident remains under investigation, police said. If you have any information regarding this incident, contact Princeton Police Det. Holly Arana at (609) 921-2100 ext. 1834, or at harana@princetonnj.gov.

  • This is at least the fourth or fifth time this serial groper has struck in Princeton. This man is very dangerous, because he may, like many sexual predators, escalate to something worse — like kidnapping and rape.
