One lane of Route 206 in Princeton will be closed Friday

The section of Route 206 northbound between Herrontown Road and Ewing Street will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday as part of a culvert replacement project, New Jersey Department of Transportation Officials announced Thursday.

One travel lane on Route 206 will be maintained with alternating traffic directed by flagmen. Expect delays or seek an alternate route.

The road will be closed so that utility and pavement tests can be conducted next to the existing culvert, which is being installed between Hillside Avenue and Arreton Road. This preparatory work is required for the permanent replacement of the culvert. In September during an inspection, officials discovered that the more than 100-year-old culvert needed to be replaced. Temporary steel plates have been installed and paved over until a new culvert can be manufactured and prepared for installation.
