Photo: Hawk by Bernard Poncin
Princeton resident Bernard Poncin has taken photos of various animals outside his Princeton home, including red foxes, hawks, and rabbits. He took this photo of a hawk that some residents have identified as a red-shouldered hawk. Others had thought it was a sparrowhawk.

What a wonderful photo! I live nearby and noticed perhaps the same bird at a distance and I grabbed my binoculars but it released a squawking small bird and flew away. Hoped to ID it and am glad my talented neighbor snapped this pic to make it easier!!
That hawk was in my yard on Monday trying to fly with his prey. He was huge.
Definitely not a Sparrow Hawk. It is a RedShoulder.
Either way, those hawks are good eating! You have to baste them though. That’s the key.
