Walmart in West Windsor will close for good next month

Retail giant Walmart will permanently close its West Windsor store located in the Nassau Park Pavilion strip mall just off Route 1.
The 135,000-square-foot store that opened in 1995 is being closed due to poor performance unrelated to the COVID-19 pandemic, a spokesperson told NJ.com on Wednesday afternoon.
Walmart also owns and operates the membership-only warehouse club, Sam’s Club. The company closed the West Windsor location in the same shopping center back in early 2018.
The West Windsor Walmart will close Aug. 21. A spokesperson said the company expects to sell most of its inventory before the closing date. Any remaining perishable items will be donated to local hunger relief organizations.
More than 200 people work at the West Windsor location. They will be able to transfer to another store, the spokesman said. Area Walmarts are located in Hamilton, East Windsor, and North Brunswick.
Another large retail chain, Kohl’s, closed at the Nassau Park Pavilion in 2017. A new T.J. Maxx and a Homesense store opened at the former Kohl’s site last September.
