Police: Woman run over by a car while dancing on her back in West Windsor parking lot
A West Windsor woman was run over by a car on Sunday in the parking lot of an apartment complex that is located near the intersection of Alexander Road and North Post Road in the township. The woman is hospitalized and is in critical but stable condition, police said.
Just before 5 p.m., the woman was in the parking lot of Freedom Village at 700 Freedom Boulevard with her husband. Police said the woman started to dance in the parking lot, in the main area traveled by vehicles. Her husband, who was standing on the sidewalk, decided to capture some video of her on his cell phone. According to police, the woman then decided to lie down. She then continued with her dancing and writhing movements while on her back.
A Trenton resident then drove a 2015 Chevy Impala into the parking lot. The driver’s attention was focused on the husband, who began waving and motioning at the driver. According to police, the driver was so focused on the husband’s waving motions that the driver didn’t see the woman in the lot and ran over her. The driver stopped immediately, with the woman pinned under the Impala.
Police said the husband, some other people at the scene, and the driver were able to get the woman out from under the vehicle before first responders arrived on the scene just after 5 p.m.
The woman had serious injuries to her torso and upper extremities and was transported to the Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.
Police are still investigating the incident. If you have information regarding the incident, call (609) 799-1222 or email Sabatino@westwindsorpolice.com.
