COVID-19 cases continue to climb in N.J., with 16,440 new confirmed cases since Thanksgiving
For the four-day period beginning on Thanksgiving and ending Sunday, the state received another 16,440 positive COVID-19 test results, and 95 more New Jersey residents died as a result of complications from the virus, according to state data.
A total of 334,114 COVID-19 positive test results have been received by the state since the pandemic began, and 15,149 residents of the state have died due to COVID-19 complications. COVID-19 was ruled to be the probable cause of another 1,829 deaths.
Mercer County recorded another 164 positive COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the county total to 13,724 confirmed cases. A total of 623 deaths in the county have been confirmed to be from COVID-19 complications. For another 37 deaths, COVID-19 was ruled to be the probable cause.
Middlesex County recorded another 307 positive COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the county total to 30,273 confirmed cases. A total of 1,282 deaths in the county have been confirmed to be from COVID-19 complications. For another 205 deaths, COVID-19 was ruled to be the probable cause.
Somerset County recorded another 83 positive COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the county total to 9,032 confirmed cases. A total of 534 deaths in the county have been confirmed to be due to COVID-19 complications. For another 75 deaths, COVID-19 was ruled to be the probable cause.
In Princeton, for the seven-day period ending on Nov. 25, the local health department received positive COVID-19 test results for 30 residents. The last time the municipality recorded that many cases in a seven-day period was the last week of April. For the 14-day period ending on Nov. 25, officials received positive test results for 54 residents, which is one case short of the highest 14-day total in the municipality of 55 confirmed cases recorded for April 24 through May 7.
Franklin Township officials reported that officials received positive COVID-19 test results for another 25 people there on Sunday. There were no new deaths. A total of 158 residents of Franklin Township have died due to complications from COVID-19.
Residents of Fraklin Township can get a COVID-19 test, an antibody test, and a free flu shot from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tues., Dec. 1 at the Franklin Township Board of Education Community Campus at 2301 Route 27. Residents must show identification. Minors must be accompanied by a parent. Walk-ins accepted, but online registration recommended. Residents of Franklin Township can also get tested from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6 at the Franklin Middle School Hamilton Street campus, which is located at 415 Francis Street. Walk-ins will be accepted, but registration is recommended.
