Woman sexually assaulted after being forced off the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park trail by armed man

A woman was walking along the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park path next to the canal in the late afternoon on Sept. 28 when she was approached by a man with a weapon, forced off the trail, taken to another location, and raped.

The assault occurred on the border of Plainsboro and South Brunswick between 4:30 and 5 p.m.

According to police, the suspect is 5’5” to 5’6” tall, and was wearing dark-colored clothing and a dark baseball cap. He was “believed to be” Hispanic.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the aggravated sexual assault with the Plainsboro and South Brunswick Police. The investigation is ongoing.
