Quaker Road reopened after four-month closure due to damage from Hurricane Ida

Commuters and shoppers received an early holiday gift on Wednesday afternoon as Quaker Road was reopened. The stretch of the road between Mercer Road in Princeton and Province Line Road in West Windsor had been closed since Hurricane Ida caused flooding and destruction at the beginning of September.

In October, the New Jersey Department of Transportation began work near the canal and Port Mercer to rebuild the towpath and road embankment. Lawrence Township filled the sinkhole in the roadway. Princeton workers replaced guide rails after the state completed its work. Repair work in the area between Mercer Road and the Historical Society of Princeton began in mid-November.
