Princeton Police Blotter: Park Place crash, lewdness at Princeton U., check theft and forgery

The driver of a Nissan Rogue crashed into a parked 2011 Bentley on Tuesday afternoon on Park Place in Princeton. No one reported injuries in the crash, police said. The driver of the Nissan was headed east on Park Place just before 2 p.m. when the driver struck the rear of the Bentley, causing the Nissan to flip on its side. First responders arrived on the scene and had to extricate the driver from the Nissan. The Bentley suffered minor damage.

On Saturday, Aug. 6, the Princeton University Department of Public Safety received a report that a man “committing a lewd act” by exposing himself on Pyne Drive near Baker Rink. The incident occurred shortly after midnight. The man was about 40 years old and was estimated to be about 5’8″ with short dark hair. Public safety is increasing patrols in the area throughout the night. Community members are encouraged to contact the public safety department at (609) 258-1000 should they observe any suspicious persons or behavior in the area, or have information relevant to the investigation. 

A 42-year-old Trenton man and a 45-year-old Trenton man were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled and dangerous substance after they entered the Community Park Pool on Aug. 3 without paying the admission fee. They were both arrested and transported to the Mercer County Correctional Facility.

On Aug. 4, a 22-year-old Princeton resident crashed on Princeton-Kingston Road just after noon. Police determined that he was driving while intoxicated. He was arrested, processed, and released to a sober adult.

A 27-year-old Princeton resident was stopped for driving with tinted windows and driving with a suspended license on Stockton Street on the afternoon of Aug. 7. He was arrested when police determined he was a wanted person in Bucks County, Pa. He was transported to the Mercer County Correctional Facility to await extradition by the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department.

On July 28, police investigated a crash on Nassau Street just before 3 p.m. and determined that one of the drivers, a 63-year-old Princeton resident, was driving while intoxicated. He was taken to police headquarters, processed, charged, and released to a sober adult.

A resident of Gallup Road reported on July 29 that a check she mailed was stolen, forged for $8,500, and later deposited by someone. The detective bureau is investigating the incident.

On the early morning of July 29, people were seen on surveillance footage attempting to enter a
garage and residence where the target appeared to be the vehicles. The suspects were last seen leaving the area on foot in an unknown direction.

Someone stole an Amazon package containing contents valued at $284.99 from the front of a store located on Nassau Street on July 17. The detective bureau is investigating the incident.

A resident of Wheatsheaf Lane reported on July 15 that her Apple iPad froze and a pop-up window advised her to contact “Apple Service” to repair it. After calling the number, she was instructed to purchase Target gift cards and to send several Zelle payments. She sent a total of $6,123 in payments to the stranger.

On July 23, someone entered a vehicle parked in a parking lot on Library Place and rummaged through the center console. Nothing was reported missing, police said.

A 28-year-old Princeton resident was pulled over by police for failure to obey a traffic signal just after midnight on July 23. Police determined that she was driving while intoxicated. She was charged, taken to police headquarters, processed,, and released to a sober adult.

A 26-year-old man was arrested just after 2 a.m. on July 9 when he caused trouble in a bar on Nassau Street. He was charged with disorderly conduct and making terroristic threats. He resisted arrest and spit in a uniformed officer’s face.

On July 15, someone entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked on Linden Lane and took the owner’s wallet that had been left in the vehicle. The thief later made several purchases using the victim’s credit card.

A 42-year-old Princeton resident was arrested on Witherspoon Street on the evening of July 13 after he walked away from police officers when they investigated an open alcohol container violation by the man, who allegedly threatened to throw a large rock at the police. The man then allegedly resisted arrest by refusing to place his hands behind his back. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, charged with aggravated assault, resisiting arrest, and unlawful possession of a weapon, and was transported to the Mercer County Correctional Facility.
