One person and dog die in Ewing house fire

An adult and a dog died in a fire at a home on Boone Avenue in Ewing on Tuesday night, Jan. 23.

When police arrived at the scene around 7:11 p.m., they observed flames coming from the home. Police tried to enter the home but were unable to because of the heavy smoke and heat.

Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. When they entered the home, they found the body of an adult and a dead dog.

The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of relatives.

Detectives from the Ewing Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating what caused the fire.
