National Weather Service: Tornado touched down in Lawrence

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has confirmed that an EF-0 strength landspout tornado with a maximum wind speed of 80 miles per hour touched down in Lawrence Township at about 6 p.m. on Friday, June 14.

Damage was sustained to trees along Johnson Road just north of Texas Avenue behind the Conoco Gas Station. The Circle Branch Post Office at 2601 Brunswick Pike sustained damage to the roof. Several vehicles in the parking lot were overturned by the
tornado. The Fortis Institute at 2572 Brunswick Pike also sustained significant
damage to the roof and solar panels. No injuries have been reported.

Representatives surveying the damage from the National Weather Service in Mount Holly were assisted by the NJ State Police Office of Emergency Management, the Mercer County Office of Emergency Management, and the Lawrence Township Police Department.
