Pro-democracy groups to hold ‘No Kings Day’ protest on Flag Day
The Princeton protest is part of a national movement and will be held during Trump’s birthday military parade

A coalition of pro-democracy organizations led by Indivisible announced a nationwide protest campaign set for June 14, Flag Day, as a direct counter to President Donald Trump’s planned military parade in Washington, D.C.
Titled “No Kings Day,” the coordinated effort will feature more than 100 demonstrations across the country, including a local rally in Princeton from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Hinds Plaza next to the public library. (Editor’s note: The time was changed due to a conflict with another event on Hinds Plaza in the early afternoon). Organizers describe the event as a peaceful, grassroots movement to reject authoritarianism and affirm democratic values.
“Donald Trump wants tanks in the streets and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday,” national organizers said in a press release. “But real power isn’t staged in Washington — it rises up everywhere else.”
The demonstrations are scheduled for the same time as Trump’s planned display of military force, which organizers say misrepresents the legacy of Flag Day and the U.S. Army’s birthday — also observed on June 14.
“This country doesn’t belong to a king — and we’re not letting him throw himself a parade funded by tens of millions of our taxpayer dollars while stealing from us and stripping away our rights,” the release said.
The Princeton event follows a series of recent mass mobilizations, including the Hands Off! and May Day marches last week. National organizers stress that all “No Kings Day” actions will be nonviolent and rooted in civic engagement.
“From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism and show the world what democracy actually looks like: people, united, refusing to be ruled,” the statement read.
The movement’s core message — “No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.” — reflects a growing frustration among democracy advocates who view Trump’s political comeback and authoritarian rhetoric as threats to constitutional governance.
“We’re not gathering to feed his ego,” organizers said. “We’re building a movement that will leave him behind.”

Great, We need to stand up against Trump and his clowns.
Do we need to do anything to join, register etc.
Yes! Let’s GO, Dems & Indys! We are anti-orange cult, that’s all.
I WILL be there!
I have the calendar marked. This article says that in Princeton, it’s from noon to 1:30. Then, I googled for more info, and it’s saying it’s from 3:30 to 5 pm. Which is the correct time? Thanks….
The time has changed to 3:30pm in order not to conflict with Princeton Pride, earlier in the day.
The Orange One absolutely has no connection in any regard with The House of Orange and never should.
I left a reply with ” ’63 ” but that year identification was removed without my permission. This is Princeton class of 1963 and has an integral part to my perhaps too subtle comment.
I look forward to this event. We have to be Democracy warriors against authoritarianism.
