Rack_image1Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. announced today that the company plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at the Mercer Mall. The 35,000-square-foot store is scheduled to open in the spring of 2015.

Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, Inc., and sells apparel, accessories and shoes for 30 to70 percent off regular prices. The Rack carries merchandise from Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com, as well as specially-purchased items from many of the top brands sold at Nordstrom.

The first Rack store in New Jersey opened at the Bergen Town Center in 2009. Nordstrom operates five full-line stores and two Racks in New Jersey. A new Rack in Livingston will open this fall. The Mercer Mall Nordstrom Rack will be the company’s fourth location in the state.

“We’ve been thrilled with the customer response as we’ve continued to grow the Rack throughout the tri-state area,” said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack. “We know our customers want great fashion at great prices. We are pleased to offer one more location in the great state of New Jersey.”

The Mercer Mall is 500,000-square-foot center. Nordstrom Rack will join TJMaxx, Bed Bath & Beyond, DSW and Shop Rite, among others.

“Mercer Mall’s regional draw combined with the strong mix of best in class retailers was a natural fit for Nordstrom Rack,” said John Hendrickson, Northeast Regional Chief Operating Officer for Federal Realty Investment Trust, owner of the Mercer Mall. “We are thrilled to be adding this dynamic fashion retailer to the center.”

Founded in 1901 as a shoe store in Seattle, today Nordstrom operates 260 stores in 35 states, including 117 full-line stores, 140 Nordstrom Racks , two Jeffrey boutiques and one clearance store. Nordstrom also serves customers through Nordstrom.com and in the online private sale marketplace, HauteLook . Nordstrom, Inc.’s common stock is publicly traded on the NYSE under the symbol JWN.

    1. Wondered the same thing. Maybe it will replace something else. Ross doesn’t seem to be doing too well these days. Maybe it is not opening until 2015 because a lease won’t open up until then.

    2. No joke, I’d think it would be better down in that plaza off Business Route 1. More of a pain to get to but I think that’s where Costco is going and it would be nice to spread out the traffic and congestion rather than add to it.

        1. On the right heading north or south? As if that whole area isn’t already incredibly congested. Spread it out people!

          1. Yes, agreed. But they already got their approvals from Lawrence. Right side, we thought. Will look into it.

          2. When you drive on Quakerbridge Road and the mall is on your right. Keep going (towards the bridge over the railroad tracks). The Costco will be on the right before you get to the bridge.

It doesn’t look like it will right next to the mall, but a little bit down Quakerbridge Road from it.
