Train service suspended between New York City and Jersey Avenue Wednesday night

Northeast Corridor train service is suspended in both directions between New York Penn Station and Jersey Avenue due to police activity near the Jersey Ave station, according to New Jersey Transit.

Trains stopped running just before 9:30 p.m. Train service was restored at about 10 p.m. but with major delays. Trains are running up to 45 minutes behind schedule.

Officials did not explain the reason for the police activity and service shut down.
