Pedestrian struck and killed by state police trooper vehicle on Route 1 in South Brunswick Thursday morning

The Middlesex County Prosecutor is investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a New Jersey State Police trooper’s vehicle on Raymond Road in South Brunswick early Thursday morning.

Just before 6 a.m., officers from the South Brunswick Police Department responded to the southbound lane of Route 1 near Raymond Road after receiving a report that a marked New Jersey State Police vehicle was involved in a crash that killed a male pedestrian. Upon their arrival, police officers located the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene and whose identity is still being confirmed.

Following a notification from the South Brunswick Police, detectives for the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office responded and assumed control of the scene.

  1. The words “pedestrian” and “Route 1” should never have cause to appear within two sentences of each other–unless of course the phrase “death wish” also appears in close proximity.
